Tim (Paul Timothy) Coffman of San Diego, California, a loving husband and father, a musician, businessman and man of God, passed away on March 27, 2015. He was 68.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 17, 1946, Tim was the third of eight children born to Walt and Erva Coffman. He moved to San Diego as a toddler, and graduated from Kearny High School in 1964.
An Electrical Contractor by day, Tim’s priority was a Christ-filled life, and his passion was music. A musician, poet and composer, arranger, producer, recording artist and entertainer, Tim celebrated fifty years of music in 2014.
He started in folk music in high school and performed with several noted rock bands in the sixties, was early and influential in the praise and worship music genre over the past thirty-five years and wrote, produced and recorded numerous individual projects in Surf and Hawaiian music till the end. His firm, Rolltop Records, has been in business nearly three decades and includes a recording studio, a music publishing company and music licensing company.
Married to Pamela Jean Herrin, soon after high school, October 9, 1965, Tim and Pam would have celebrated fifty years together in 2015. They have eight children: Tim, Christina, David, Debbie, Julie and Isaiah in the San Diego area, Robert in Los Angeles and Joanna in Kentucky. There are fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Deeply spiritual, Tim lived a Godly life and shared his faith with others. In addition to his influence in Christian music circles, Tim and Pam led a Bible study in their home monthly and a popular, Spirit-filled, New Year’s Eve celebration in their home for several decades.
